Jon Appleton was born in Hollywood, California in 1939. His first electroacoustic music was composed in 1963. Much of his work is a reflection on the cultural soundscapes of the USA, France, Sweden, Japan, Russia and other nations where he has lived and worked.

His association with French composers has had an observable influence on his work, particularly Jean-Claude Risset, Francois Bayle, Michel Redolfi, Beatriz Ferreyra, Georges Boeuf, and Christian Clozier and Françoise Barrière. Also heard in his work is the influence of Swedish composer Lars-Gunnar Bodin, Russian composers Andrei Smirnov and Yuri Spitsyn, and Japanese composer Kojiro Umezaki. Appleton lives at the Hart-Nor Farm in Vermont (USA).

Dedicated to Jean-Claude and Rozenn Risset who have been close friends of the composer for many years. Composed in the Bregman Electronic Music Studio, Dartmouth College, USA.

Composed in the Bregman Electronic Music Studio, Dartmouth College, USA.

«San Francisco airport rock» composed 1996.
Composed in the Bregman Electronic Music Studio, Dartmouth College, USA.

«Narita airport rock» composed 2002.
Composed in the studios of International academy of media arts and sciences (Gifu, Japan).

«Sheremetyevo airport rock» composed 2003.
Composed in the studios of Theremin center at Moscow conservatory of music.

«Yuri goes to America» composed 2004. «Yamanote to ko» composed 1997.

«Ce que signifie la Déclaration des droits de l!Homme et du citoyen de 1798, pour les hommes et les citoyens des îles Marquises» composed 1989.
